Examining and discussing with patients in order to diagnose their health conditions
- Making detailed notes as a legal documentation for treatment beneficial to other health care providers and professionals.
- Carrying out particular procedures like special investigations
- Working with junior and senior doctors as a team member, either in the same personnel or within other specializations.
- Liaising with other non-medical and medical faculty in the hospital to guarantee high-quality treatmentThe resident in neurosurgery is responsible for patient pre- and post- operative care; involved in in- and out- patient observations in clinic and during rounds and may perform minor surgery based on their lists of granted privileges, all with reference to, under the supervision of, permission of and discussion with senior staff. They must attend, present and prepare lectures and attend meetings within and outside the department. They must answer calls according to departmental policy and are generally the first on-call. In addition, they are the ones who write up discharge summaries, prescriptions and other notes. They provide support and are involved with preparing patient results for consultants and specialists by verifying investigative or diagnostic facts. Residents in surgery may rotate and cover various surgical subspecialties
