Special education teachers work with students who have a wide range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities. They adapt modify curriculum according to the need of a child. They also teach basic skills, such as literacy and communication techniques, to students with severe disabilities.
• Assess students’ skills to determine their needs and to develop teaching plans
• Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students
• Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student
• Plan, organize, and assign activities that are specific to each student’s abilities
• Teach and mentor student one-on-one
• Implement IEPs, assess students’ performance, and track their progress
• Update IEPs throughout after every semester to reflect students’ progress and goals
• Discuss student’s progress with parents, teachers, school counselors, and administrators and center’s related specialists.
• Supervise and mentor teacher assistants who work with students with disabilities
• Prepare and help students transition from grade to grade and after graduation.
• Work and collaborative with psychologist and ABA therapist to support with students who have physical and sensory disabilities, such as blindness and deafness, and with students who are wheelchair-bound, autism spectrum disorders and emotional disorders, such as anxiety and depression.
• Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
• Maintains patient confidence and protects centers operations by keeping information confidential.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with ADEK procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
• Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
• Develops occupational therapy staff by providing information; developing and conducting in-service training programs.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor or Master’s in Special Education
• Minimum 5 years of experience in field
• ADEC approval
• Experience with Microsoft Suite
• Capable of performing essential job functions
Preferred:
• Experience with pediatric, autistic and developmentally disabled clients.
• Arabic Speaking
