Responsible for supporting the General Manager and Head Curator in the supply of live aquatic exhibits to meet business customer expectations in line with legislative requirements, with a specific focus on animal care. (responsible for the daily care of all the LSS within the Al Qana Aquarium)
The LSS Manager guarantees all exhibits and back of house areas are working and clean and all equipment is maintained and running.
Able to note and record animal observations and health issues.
Performs daily monitoring and assessment of aquatic animals and LSS
Ensures all safety protocols and procedures are followed as required by the Workplace Health and Safety Act and the Aquarium standards.
Assists the Curator in maintaining and servicing all related equipment, areas and inventory of consumables.
Communicates to the General Manager and Curator any health and or LSS issues identified, and assist in developing a course of action to rectify the situation.
Follow established written standards and protocols for all exhibits to ensure the highest standards for water quality, operational efficiency, cleanliness and animal health.
Assist in LSS planning of aquarium programs and projects.
Daily checks of LSS and maintenance or BOH areas clean
Assist curators and senior aquarist in monitoring department records on animals and water quality.
Place all species onto a computer database with respect to names, numbers, where and when caught.
Identify animal health problems and interact with medical staff in the care and treatment.
Adjust feeding regimes and water chemistry with respect to water chemistry data.
Continually review and make recommendations for water quality, collecting, breeding and propagation, care and display technologies.
Assist curators and senior aquarist on planning, developing, designing and stocking of new exhibits.
Assist with curators and senior aquarist on developing and designing new collection methods and holding facilities.
Assist curators and senior aquarist in designing and developing more up to date filtration and water reticulation plants.
Assist curators and senior aquarist in providing expertise on specific collection and display challenges and opportunities for new exhibits.
Assist in monitoring and determining needs for upgrading existing exhibits and LSS support structures.
Liaise with various suppliers and companies.
Communicate regularly with professional colleagues at other institutions.
Accurate ordering of goods and services
Perform all other tasks assigned by the Curator.

المهارات
Minimum 5 years’ experience leading an LSS operations team in a public aquarium facility. The role will also oversee the facility maintenance of the attraction through various management contracts.
Experience with aquatic animal husbandry.
High level experience in maintaining an aquarium or similar facility.
High level understanding of life support systems including mechanical, biological and chemical filtration and sterilization techniques.
Experience with, and knowledge of the biology and behaviour for any or all of the following: Fish, invertebrates, amphibians, birds, reptiles, marine/terrestrial mammals
Computer skills
Current driver license
