Responsible for supporting the General Manager in the supply of live aquatic exhibits to meet business customer expectations in line with legislative requirements, with a specific focus on animal care.
Responsible for the daily care of all the animals within the Al Qana Aquarium.
The ability to manage the day to day operations of the Curatorial Department within existing operational budgets. All capital expenditure including new exhibits and upgrades will be agreed with the General Manager.
Prepare and manage financial budgets for curatorial department
Ensures that the maintenance and appearance of all exhibits and animal areas is undertaken as per standard operating guidelines and that data is appropriately managed and stored.
Performs daily monitoring and assessment of aquatic animals, their health, treatment and management of animals.
Develops and implements all safety protocols and procedures as required by the Workplace Health and Safety Act and the Aquarium standards.
Maintains servicing of all related equipment, areas and inventory of consumables.
Continually source specimens required to ensure displays have sufficient stocking levels.
Effectively manage the Life Support System in conjunction with LSS manager to ensure system is satisfactory.
Effectively manage the treatment and purification of water using filtration system.
In line with Master Plan ensure construction and commissioning of ongoing exhibits.
In conjunction with marketing, assist with the development and implementation of seasonal campaigns.
Develop new show plans.
Ensure animals are trained to an adequate level to carry out day to day operations.
Identification and management of disease through weekly veterinary program including identification of both short term and long term disease and making appropriate decisions.
Satisfactory completion of risk assessment once disease is identified.
Design and development of nutritional programs.
Conduct recruitment and selection process for curatorial department.
Manage employee relations
Facilitate training of new and existing staff members
Ensure the appraisal process is conducted
Training on health and safety, disease control, diving and husbandry procedures.
Ensure staff incidents are recorded and managed effectively.
Ensure that data such as animal observations, acquisitions and mortalities are entered onto the database software and kept up to date
Ensure that there is a sound knowledge of Animal Management programs and keep up to date with any changes.
Ensure day to day check sheets are completed and followed up upon.

المهارات
Should have minimum 5 years’ experience leading a Curatorial operations team in a public aquarium facility. The selected person will be responsible for over 60 exhibits featuring marine fish and invertebrates, Freshwater fish, reptiles, amphibians, and insects. Previous experience working in the U.A.E is desirable.
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, preferably Marine Biology or Oceanography or equivalent work experience.
High level experience in maintaining an aquarium or similar facility.
Rescue Diver SCUBA certification from a recognized training agency.
Computer skills
Current driver license
