CHILDCARE AND EDUCATION
Model and support high quality interaction, which extends children’s learning and thinking.
Supervise and support all staff to provide high quality interaction.
To plan, prepare and participate in a range of activities that promotes each child’s physical, intellectual and emotional needs to enable each child to reach their full potential.
To ensure that planned activities come from the children’s next steps, observations and interests, as the EYFS framework requires.
To ensure the calm, smooth running of the room using staff delegation as appropriate.
Ensure the environment is well set out and that resources are excitingly presented and accessible.
Organize and supervise meals and mealtimes ensuring they are a time of pleasant social sharing. To ensure all staff sit and interact with the children when possible to make this a sociable time.
Where appropriate, encourage all children to use cutlery and sit at the table during meal and snack times.
To help children acquire self -help skills, including toileting, dressing, feeding and an awareness of personal hygiene as an important element of planning to support learning and development.
Lead and implement positive management of children’s behavior.
To act as a key person for a group of children, by observing, monitoring and accurately recording each child’s individual development.
To organize and support your staff team to act as key persons to groups of children.
Ensure all children have accurate, up to date records of their learning achievements.
Develop and maintain effective relationships with parents and other appropriate agencies.
Supervise, effectively monitor and provide a good role model for all Nursery Nurses, Nursery Assistants and students and help new staff fit in with the team.
To provide regular feedback to staff on their contributions to outcomes for children in line with the nursery’s vision.
Use your own observations and reflective practice to plan and implement staff development opportunities and address areas for improvement.
To enable the team to use their own observations and reflective practice to plan and implement improvements to provision for individual and groups of children.
To keep up to date with developments in childcare through regular training and reading as appropriate.
To support transitions between nursery classrooms, nursery and school ensuring relevant information is relayed.
