Responsibilities: Technical application specialist ( Job code IT-02 ) Provide day-to-day support of Measurement and Operations Applications software in a highly collaborative team environment. Responsibilities include: Existing system support. Interfaces between in-house and 3rd party systems. Bug fixes and enhancement request deployments. Translating older technology to new systems. Provide secondary support for Operations Applications software as well as 3rd party software. Work directly with users to discover and understand their needs and with IT personnel to translate those needs into effective system solutions. Stay abreast of related technology and recommend future system enhancements, software purchases or system upgrades. Provide technical input to assist in development of project plans through detailed work breakdown structures and timeline estimates. Effectively applying standard methodology. Providing timely production support to requests reported by the Colleagues. Ensuring production support issues receive proper level of attention and communication. Minimizing exposure and risk to loss of data integrity. Sharing knowledge with other team members assisting in their growth and development. Ensuring customer change requests are completed in a timely manner. Providing timely updates of existing workload for communication to manager and Colleagues. Maintaining adherence to all procedures and mandated regulations Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, Computer Science or IT business related. Strong interpersonal and team skills including the ability to positively interface with vendors and contractors, IT, user management, and peers. Good organization skills with ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently while achieving deadlines and effectively communicating project status. Provides technical recommendations and solutions for how to meet business problems. Applies the patches and upgrades for systems, and performs system checkout and verification of change. Implements new systems and retires older equipment. Documents system changes through change management, team process and procedures, configuration management databases and system diagrams. Optimizes current processes and develops new processes as required. Provides level 2 or 3 support. Writes technical specifications for purchase of hardware and systems software. Builds servers and new system implementation. Acts as a liaison and advocates for systems and the tools, processes, and procedures necessary throughout the lifecycle of technology. Administers and implements security processes and procedures. Monitors the performance and availability of systems. Documents policies, procedures and systems architecture. Requirements: Average manual dexterity work in use of a PC, phone, sorting, filing and other office machines. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and fluently in English. Ability to troubleshoot with a group and be an active participant during large technology conversations. Ability to be careful and thorough about detail. Ability to function effectively under pressure and deadline oriented project demands as well as manage multiple initiatives. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
