Job Title: Communication Officer, MasterPeace Responsible to: Communication manager, MasterPeace Main purpose: To help develop, coordinate and implement the projects and communication activities MasterPeace Location: Based in Cairo, Egypt Deadline: 27th of June 2015 MASTERPEACE MasterPeace aims to inspire everyone to use their talent and energy for building peace and togetherness. MasterPeace will help lead the way to a more sustainable world with less armed conflict. MasterPeace is the fastest growing grass-roots peace movement of the world, with the ambition to reach out to millions and mobilize at least 200,000 new peace builders by 2020 COMMUNICATIONS AT MASTERPEACE As a grassroots movement, MasterPeace communications is very dynamic, global and diverse. MasterPeace believes in the power of ‘social’ media in peace-building, so our communication is not only a tool to promote and empower our brand but also to spread positivity, peace and togetherness. Communication team works on training and building communication teams around the world in every club in addition to their responsibilities of enhancing the brand image and watchdog over the brand across all medium. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. MasterPeace Communication & Branding - Support implementing communications, marketing and publishing strategies, which promote MasterPeace. - Plan, write, edit and publish a variety of communications and other documents, internally and externally to support the right communication of the brand - Provide help in internal communications between the multi-stakeholders of MasterPeace, clubs, teams and partners by analyzing their specific communication needs, and assisting in the planning, development and implementation of creative strategies as required. - Help in protecting the right branding of MasterPeace and ensure public views the organization favorably. - Undertake specific communications tasks, including speech writing, media release preparation and distribution, promotional launches, displays and other special events. - Coordinate with external agencies/partners to plan creative strategies for special events, launches, displays and other promotions, which highlight the achievements of the department. - Create and identify media opportunities suitable across the range of outlets for spreading MasterPeace messages, news and content through different publications. - Support high profile flagship campaign projects that have a large potential in terms of visibility. 2. MasterPeace Online Presence & Content - Support implementing a social media strategy using the right parameters and guidance of MasterPeace social media strategy. - Support in managing social media channels, with continuously keep it updated on a daily basis and that scouting for the right and relevant stories. - Support in tracking the online conversation of MasterPeace across different offline & online channels. - Assist for campaign website updates, regular newsletters, writing, editing work and engaging with groups and individuals via social media. - Support setting up a blogger and journalist community within MasterPeace as part of the Peace Reporting Network that include aligning with journalist’s community, support in story development and distribution. KEY QUALIFICATIONS - 2+ years years of experience in doing communications and media work, preferably with a development NGO. - Good understanding of global political, social and development issues and culture sensitivity and open horizons. - Passion for communications and clear display of experience in social media and online communication - Highly developed writing skills; able to write press releases, letters to the editor, online content. - Experience as a writer, journalist, or/and editor or in the field of creative writing process with ability to work with text and journalist writing. - Strong knowledge of IT, servers, hosting and different essential online software and multi-media - Ability to work on own initiative to build on and develop the job, combined with the ability to work effectively as part of a team - Good interpersonal and communications skills; together with presentation skills.
